What it does: Tells you when you're within striking distance of an untethered residential network, but also can simply lead you down the street toward a Starbucks with a WiFi access point.
What it eliminates: The need to turn on a laptop to determine the presence or signal strength of a network. Also, earlier sniffing devices sometimes confused running microwave ovens or cellphones for hot spots. This thing has a bit bigger brain.
What it detects: 802.11b/g signals. The WiFi Seeker has four red LED lights; the more that illuminate, the stronger the signal.
What it measures: 2.25 by 1.2 by 0.43 inches.
What it costs: $29.95.
To order: Visit wifiseeker.com or call (847) 583-0198, ext. 270.
