Madison County, Ga., May Sue Contractor over Delays in Jail Construction.

Feb. 4--The Madison County Board of Commissioners may take a construction company to court over the construction of the new county jail.

The new jail, a 60-bed facility located west of Danielsville on Georgia Highway 98, was originally slated for completion in November 2001, but the date has since been moved -- a few times -- by Boatwright Construction Company, the project's Cumming-based contractor. The latest scheduled completion date is March 1, said Madison County Clerk Morris Fortson.

Fortson said commissioners have not yet decided to take the contractor to court, but, he said, it is a possibility. County …
