Fed: Iran embassy requests earthquake aid

The Iranian embassy in Canberra has requested emergency aid including field hospitals
and money for earthquake victims.

The embassy says Iran welcomes all humanitarian assistance worldwide after an earthquake
flattened most of the city of Bam, killing more than 20,000.

As well as field hospitals, the list includes power generators, medical and hygienic
materials, water purifiers, heating and lighting equipment, tents, blankets and plastic
tarpaulins.

The embassy says interested individuals, especially Iranians in Australia, wanting
to help, are asked to donate their cash to the Commonwealth Bank, Account Number 062-900-10252226,
London Circuit and Ainslie Ave branch, Canberra.
